Become a Member

Women for Wise Growth is always looking for people who are willing to give their time and energy to the organization. Members of WWG sit on boards in local and county government, are active in local politics, attend public meetings, and provide valuable research skills and data to local government officials for the purposes of promoting sustainable development.

We are looking for potential members who have experience in grassroots activism, local government, and/or nonprofit advocacy work. A focus on environmental issues and experience in environmental activism is also preferred. Members of Women for Wise Growth also have strong organizational skills and are able to arrange and publicize community educational events.

According the Women for Wise Growth charter, the process for becoming a member entails the following:

1. The potential member must obtain a recommendation from a current member of Women for Wise Growth.

2. The current member of Women for Wise Growth must provide an argument as to why the candidate would be a valuable asset to the group.

3. The candidate must provide a resume or CV that outlines relevant skills for membership.

4. The executive committee then decides on whether to accept the candidate or not. If no, the nomination is defeated. If yes, the executive committee announces their decision at the following general membership meeting.

5. At the next general membership meeting the decision is voted on by the general membership.

If you have questions about the process for becoming a member, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to working with new members in the community!
